Pratapgarh police on Wednesday handed over 93 lost mobile phones worth about Rs 14 lakh to their owners.The operation followed several complaints from the public received by the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. SP (Pratapgarh) Deepak Bhukar said: “Surveillance cell managed to recover 93 lost or missing mobiles which were handed over to the owners. Evidence such as call detail records, CCTV footage, location tracking and the CEIR portal were used to identify and retrieve the phones, which were then returned to their rightful owners.” Officials appealed to the public to promptly report lost mobile phones through their nearest police stations or by raising a request on the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in).
