Jaipur: Thousands of families living in 86 colonies across Sanganer and Bagru have warned of boycotting the upcoming local body elections if their long-pending demand for land titles is not addressed, at a meeting held Monday under the banner of the Niyaman Hetu Sangharsh SamitThe committee said the colonies were established 40 to 50 years ago through govt-registered housing cooperative societies and are now home to nearly 25,000 to 30,000 families. Although the areas have roads, sewer lines, electricity and Bisalpur water supply, residents are yet to receive land titles by Jaipur Development Authority, saying the properties are not under its control. The residents alleged that neither elected representatives nor the state govt responded to their concerns, while they also felt their side was not heard in the ongoing legal proceedings. They announced that if no concrete decision is taken before July 27, they will hold a mahapanchayat and launch a larger public movement. The committee also claimed that the Rajasthan Housing Board issued no-objection certificates (NOCs) for 26 of the 86 colonies two to three years ago, but land titles have still not been granted. According to the committee, in several cases the land has already been transferred to the JDA, yet the issue remains unresolved. The committee further alleged that a govt order on regularisation issued in March 2025 was challenged in the Rajasthan High Court by an organisation called Public Against Corruption. It claimed that residents were not made parties to the case and therefore could not present their side before the court. The committee also accused the govt and JDA officials of citing the pending court case to delay a decision.Raghunandan Singh Hada, president of the Niyaman Hetu Sangharsh Samiti, said, “If our demands are not met, people from all 86 colonies will boycott the upcoming local body elections. Political leaders come to us when they need votes, but no one comes forward to solve our problems.”Attempts to contact Surya Kant Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of JDA Zone-9, for his response were unsuccessful.
