Kota: Kota Rural police Monday arrested a 38-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh in Bapawar Kalan and seized counterfeit Indian currency notes worth ₹59,300 from him.Kota Rural SP Sujit Shankar said the action was taken under the ongoing ‘Operation Criminal Dusting’ campaign against illegal substances, weapons and other unlawful activities in the district.The accused was identified as Anand Kushwah, a resident of Piproda Khurd near Heera Man Baba under Guna Cantt police station limits in Madhya Pradesh.Police acted on a phone tip-off about a suspicious man carrying a bag on a motorcycle bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration number near SBI Bank on Chhabra Road. A team reached the spot, detained Kushwah and searched his bag.Police said they recovered 285 counterfeit notes of ₹200 and 23 counterfeit notes of ₹100, totalling ₹59,300.During initial questioning, Kushwah allegedly told police he procured the fake notes from an Instagram friend named Ravi in exchange for ₹20,000 in genuine cash. He planned to circulate the counterfeit currency in local markets and shops for quick profit, police said.A case was registered, and police are investigating the source of the counterfeit currency network and trying to trace Ravi.
