Lucknow: A case has been registered after restricted narcotic fentanyl injections were allegedly stolen from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow. Police have booked an outsourced employee and his accomplice for conspiring to illegally sell the controlled drug.Based on a complaint lodged by assistant security officer, DK Pandey, the PGI police have registered an FIR against Durgesh, an outsourced employee at the institute, Abhay Mishra, an outsider, and other unidentified persons. The case is being investigated.According to the FIR, the incident came to light on Jul 7 at around 2.50 pm, when security personnel deployed on the fourth floor of the Emergency Medicine and Regional Trauma Centre (EMRTC) building found four packets of Verfen (fentanyl) Injection 50 mcg/ml lying near a staircase.SGPGIMS authorities reviewed CCTV footage. Investigators allegedly found suspicious movements of Durgesh, who was working as an outsourced patient helper in the renal HRF store.According to the complaint, the CCTV footage and inquiry indicated that Durgesh had allegedly stolen the injections from the renal HRF department.During questioning, Durgesh allegedly admitted to stealing the injections and that he was planning to sell them to Abhay Mishra, police said.
