Kendrapada: A 68-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in a village in Jagatsinghpur district, police said. According to investigators, the Class V student was on her way to a tuition class at her teacher’s house when the accused, a poultry farm owner, allegedly dragged her to a secluded spot near the farm and sexually assaulted her. He allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident to anyone.Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s grandmother, police registered a case and arrested the accused. Investigating officer Rashmi Ranjan Das said the survivor was immediately taken to a govt hospital in Paradip for medical examination. Police have booked the accused under Section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The accused has confessed to the crime during interrogation, police said.
