Berhampur: Chhatrapur police in Ganjam district on Friday busted an organized job fraud syndicate with the arrest of 4 persons, including 3 women for allegedly duping several unemployed persons on the pretext of providing jobs in different sectors. The accused were identified as Narayan Sethi (36) of Paika Jamuna near Kabisurya Nagar, his wife Deepa Behera (22), Bishnupriya Behera (27) and Sunita Das (36) of Chhatrapur.Eleven fake appointment letters, a fake ID card, several documents of the victims, including matric certificate, Aadhar card, Rs 25,000 in cash and three mobile phones were seized from the accused, said Sabyasachi Malla, IIC, Chhatrapur police station. Preliminary investigation revealed the racket has duped several youths in Chhatrapur, Khallikote, Sorada and Golabandh areas, said police. “Initially, we have identified 7 victims, who have been cheated of around Rs 3 lakh,” police said.While Das falsely posed as a data entry operator (DEO) in Ganjam block, Bishnupriya, who is stated to be the mastermind, posed as the ration card operator in Rangeilunda block. Police said she was the mastermind behind the manufacturing of the counterfeit employment documents.The funds fraudulently extorted by Sunita from the victims were subsequently remitted to Bishnupriya. Malla said a case was registered against the accused when a complainant from Chhatrapur lodged an FIR alleging that he provided Rs 60,000 to Sunita online, who promised to arrange a Grade IV job for his wife in a block office. She has also gave an appointment letter and an ID card which was found to be fake, police said.
