Bhubaneswar: One person died and 25 injured after a bus rammed into a tree on NH-57 at Baunsiapada under Itamati police station limits in Nayagarh district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Niranjan Swain, the bus driver. The injured passengers were admitted to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital. Six of them were shifted to a Bhubaneswar hospital after their condition deteriorated.The Nayagarh-bound bus was coming from Bhubaneswar when it lost control and hit a tree. Local MLA Arun Sahoo reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The district collector, police officers and local govt officials also reached the spot. “From the circumstances I found that the bus was travelling at great speed. The driver died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured people and sent them to hospital,” said Sahoo.
