Mysuru: Department of skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood has identified and removed 581 ineligible Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries in Mysuru district.Officials said the beneficiaries were weeded out after periodic monthly record verifications conducted following the scheme’s launch. Mysuru district has 14,376 beneficiaries enrolled under Yuva Nidhi.Of those removed, 427 were found to be employed while continuing to receive the unemployment allowance, 153 were pursuing higher education, and one beneficiary was self-employed but still availing of the benefit, sources said.District employment exchange office assistant director Rani told TOI that the department had stepped up monthly verification following directions from senior officers. Ineligible beneficiaries, including those who had secured jobs, were self-employed or had completed the benefit period, were being removed, she said, adding that beneficiaries must submit a self-declaration every month to continue receiving assistance.District Guarantee Implementation Committee vice-president Hunsur Basavanna said periodic verification was being carried out to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive the benefit under the scheme.
