Nagpur: A 56-year-old man Ganpat Jaipurkar, a resident of Pardi, was on Thursday sentenced to undergo 20 years rigorous imprisonment after district and additional sessions judge SH Gwalani found him guilty of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl on Sept 15, 2024, when her parents were at work. After a complaint was lodged by the girl’s parents with Pardi police, Jaipurkar was arrested on Sept 21 with the help of CCTV footage.The chargesheet was filed in 23 days by investigating officer Mira Sawant. Special public prosecutor Kalpana Pandey secured the conviction in just 14 months. The court also imposed fines totalling to Rs7,000 with default sentences.
