Nagpur: Former Union minister of state and former Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav will arrive in Nagpur on Friday to begin a six-day consultation exercise to identify the next Nagpur city Congress president, with the final appointment to be made by the All India Congress Committeec (AICC), after receiving his report. Yadav, appointed national observer for the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Nagpur city, will kick off the process with a press conference on Friday, followed by a meeting with city Congress executive and one-to-one sessions with office-bearers at Devidia Congress Bhavan, Mahal, at 4 pm. Over the next four days, Yadav will hold constituency-wise meetings with party workers and office-bearers across all six Nagpur Assembly segments. On April 11, he will meet workers from West Nagpur at Ravi Bhavan and South-West Nagpur at Bhagwati Sabhagruh, Trimurti Nagar. On April 12, sessions are scheduled for East Nagpur at Mahakalkar Sabhagruh, Kalmna, and North Nagpur at Mahatma Phule Cultural Sabhagruh, Indora. On April 13, Central and South Nagpur workers will be covered at Devidia Congress Bhavan and Mahakalkar Sabhagruh, New CBD, respectively. On April 14, Yadav will hold discussions with district chiefs of frontal organisations, departments and cells, followed by a dialogue with civil society groups and social organisations, both at Ravi Bhavan. The final day, April 15, is reserved for one-to-one sessions with those in contention for the city Congress president’s post. After concluding the exercise, Yadav will submit his report to AICC, which will take the final call on the appointment. Sources said it typically takes up to a month for AICC to declare the new president after receiving the observer’s report.
