Nagpur: A young canine lover was allegedly molested inside her residence by a neighbour under the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar police station. The survivor, a final-year arts student, alleged that the accused trespassed into her home and behaved inappropriately. Demonstrating swift action, Kapil Nagar police registered an FIR, issued notices, recorded electronic statements, conducted a panchnama, and filed a chargesheet — all within 14 hours on Tuesday.According to police, the accused, identified as Vaibhav Brahme, entered the woman’s house claiming that her dog had bitten him. During the confrontation, he allegedly grabbed her hand in an inappropriate manner. The incident took place on April 1 but the case was registered shortly after Monday midnight as the complainant took time to make up her mind.Following the complaint, police booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to trespass, molestation, abuse, and criminal intimidation.The FIR states that Brahme used abusive and obscene language before forcibly entering the house. He then allegedly molested the victim, prompting her to raise an alarm. The woman’s parents rushed to her aid, after which the accused allegedly threatened the family with further harm later.The investigation was led by sub-inspector Yogesh Nalte under the supervision of senior inspector Satish Ade. The accused was also produced before Zonal DCP Sandeep Pakhale.In line with Supreme Court guidelines, police issued a notice to the accused and released him after obtaining necessary undertakings, while continuing legal proceedings.PSI Nalte completed the probe and filed the chargesheet in court within 14 hours of FIR registration. Investigators gathered electronic evidence, including CCTV footage, forensic reports, and witness statements.Senior inspector Ade stated that the swift filing of the chargesheet reflects Nagpur City Police’s commitment to ensuring women’s safety and maintaining zero tolerance towards crimes against women.
