Mangaluru: Police seized 56 kg of beef at a house in Hosavaklu in Barya village of Belthangady taluk on Thursday. Police said information was received about illegal cow slaughter and meat processing taking place on the premises of a house. Based on this, Uppinangadi police station PSI Suthesh KP, along with his staff, reached the house of H Abdul Rahiman at the location. During this time, two individuals fled from the premises.Upon inspection of the site, packets of beef were found, and packets were also discovered in a nearby autorickshaw, totalling 56 kg of meat.

For further legal proceedings, the beef, weighing machine, autorickshaw, mobile phone, and other possessions found at the site were seized.A case was registered at Uppinangadi police atation under Sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act and Section 3(5) of the BNS, and an investigation is under way.
