Srinagar, Oct 15: At least 20 Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh residents among 500 pilgrims have been selected by the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) under the Mehram quota for Haj-2027.

The pilgrims have been selected through a Digital Random Selection (DRS) process conducted on October 14.

According to a circular issued by the Haj Committee of India, a total of 1,044 applications were received against 500 seats, of which 1,008 were found eligible.

As the number of eligible applications exceeded the available quota, the Digital Random Selection (DRS) process was conducted at Haj House, Mumbai.

In the list of selected pilgrims, 20 belong to twin Union Territories, including 19 from J&K and one from Ladakh.

However, the HCoI also released the list of pilgrims in the waiting list under the Mehram Quota. 508 pilgrims, including 17 from Jammu & Kashmir, have been kept in the waiting list.

The selected pilgrims have been directed to deposit the first instalment of the Haj amount of Rs 1,52,300 by October 30, 2026. They must also undergo primary medical screening in accordance with the committee’s circulars dated September 1 and September 15, 2026.

The payment can be made online through the Haj Committee website or the Haj Suvidha App using a credit card, debit card or net banking. Alternatively, pilgrims can deposit the amount at any branch of the State Bank of India or Union Bank of India using the prescribed pay-in slip and bank reference number, the circular reads.

After depositing the amount, selected pilgrims must upload or submit their primary medical screening and fitness certificate, along with a copy of the payment receipt, by November 2, 2026.

The Haj Committee has cautioned that failure to meet the stipulated deadlines for payment, medical screening and document submission may lead to cancellation of the Haj seat.
