Shivamogga: Five days after her husband died by suicide, a mother of two daughters also ended her life, alleging that a police constable harassed her through social media using fake accounts since her husband’s death. Investigation officers said police were verifying the claim.Swathi J, 36, from Gonibeedu village, was found dead at her home, nearly a week after her husband, Jagadeesh, took his life. Jagadeesh, who served as a staff member in the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force in Shivamogga, ended his life on Feb 14, leaving Swathi and their two young daughters behind. Swathi was found dead on Feb 19. Swathi’s mother told police that her daughter informed her about the harassment before taking her life. She gave the name of the constable, who created multiple fake accounts on social media, to the investigation officers.Family members said the harassment began on social media, where the accused, identified as “Gowdru Mohan”, started sending Swathi persistent and unwanted messages. Despite Swathi blocking his account, the accused continued harassing her with other fake accounts.Superintendent of police B Nikhil said a team was formed to identify the accused and arrest him. Bhadravathi Rural Police, who took up a case of unnatural death, are analysing digital evidence. In response to a query, the SP said Swathi’s family members were yet to hand over her mobile phone to the investigation officer.
