Kanpur: A 45-year-old man’s body was found under suspicious circumstances by the roadside in the Purani Chungi area under the Cantt police station limits late on Saturday.On receiving information, a Cantt police team reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for a postmortem examination.During the preliminary investigation, the deceased remained unidentified, prompting police to launch efforts to establish his identity.Police questioned nearby residents and analysed CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the cause of death.Locals Ravi Shankar and Umesh said they found the man lying by the roadside while travelling from Cantt towards Purani Chungi.“When people tried to wake him up, he did not respond. They immediately informed the police,” they said.Cantt SHO Arvind Rai said the exact cause of death would be known only after the postmortem report is received.“For now, the investigation is being conducted from all angles,” he said, adding that once the deceased is identified, his family will be informed and further legal action will be taken.
