Ranchi: The district administration has made a comprehensive security plan for ensuring law and order during Ram Navami as around 3,000 police personnel including quick reaction teams and rapid action police (RAP) would be deployed at various places of the district from Thursday till the end of the religious processions.The police personnel would be deployed at around 300 places across the district during the festival. Besides, drones, videographers, plain-clothed police and closed circuit television cameras would be utilized for surveillance and intelligence collection during the festivities.Ranchi city superintendent of police Paras Rana said, “Around 2,200 police personnel along with QRTs would be deployed at sensitive places in the city area. The focus would be on management of massive crowd which gathers during the festival and ensuring smooth movement of the processions.”A district control room has become functional from Wednesday while sub-control rooms at Albert Ekka Chowk, Doranda, Bariatu and Ekra Masjid would also be operational during the festival.All the approach roads on procession routes including the main road and the path from Jhanda Chowk to Yunus Chowk would be barricaded to prevent entry of vehicles. Police personnel would be posted along the routes and also at the house tops to monitor the crowd.Around 800 police personnel would be deployed in rural areas of the district. A control room would also be set up at Bundu to keep vigil over processions in rural areas.The district administration has also directed the police and magistrates to immediately address fake information or rumours on various social media platforms to ensure peace. The administration said that officials must ensure strict action against the mischief makers.Medical teams would also be positioned at various places of the city to handle emergency situations including injuries incurred during display of skills with traditional weapons.
