Dhanbad: Traffic police launched a major vehicle-checking drive across the city on Monday, seizing 30 vehicles and initiating action against six drivers found operating vehicles without valid licences.The crackdown was led by trainee officer Ankit Sinha. DSP (traffic) Rohit Kumar Saw, along with other officers and police personnel, took part in the drive conducted in several areas of Dhanbad.Police acted against motorists for parking in no-parking zones, failing to carry mandatory vehicle documents, driving on the wrong side and committing other traffic violations. Auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers found driving negligently were also checked during the campaign.Saw said challans worth around Rs 5 lakh were issued during the drive. He said the campaign was aimed at improving traffic discipline, ensuring compliance with road safety norms and preventing accidents.Saw said violations such as driving without a licence, wrong-side driving and improper parking disrupt traffic movement and increase accident risks, especially on busy city stretches.Police said similar drives would continue across the district and strict action would be taken against repeat and serious violators.
