A heartbreaking event unfolded in Samastipur as three brothers tragically lost their lives in the Kareh River, courageously trying to rescue one another from the treacherous currents. The young siblings, who had just arrived from Delhi to celebrate Ram Navami, were enjoying a day by the water when the disaster struck.

Patna: Three minor siblings drowned in the Kareh River in Samastipur district on Monday after they went for a bath amid the heat. The boys, who had recently returned from Delhi, were swept away while trying to rescue one another.According to police, Aditya Kumar Jha (15), Harshnath Kumar Jha (13) and Kartik Kumar Jha (11), sons of Sudarshan Jha, a resident of Boraj village under Shivaji Nagar police station area, entered the river when one of them was caught in the current. The other two attempted to save him but were also dragged in.On receiving information, villagers rushed to the spot and alerted the police. With the help of local divers and the SDRF, the bodies of Aditya and Harshnath were recovered first and taken to Shivaji Nagar PHC, where doctors declared them brought dead. Kartik’s body was retrieved later.Shivaji Nagar SHO Ravindra Kumar said, “Sudarshan Jha works as a security guard with a private firm in Delhi, where the family lived and the children studied in private schools. The family had returned to the village for Ram Navami. The last rites were performed after post-mortem.”
