Amravati: Maharashtra has announced Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karj Mukti Yojana 2026, aimed at providing debt relief to farmers. Under this scheme, data of approx 3 lakh farmers from Amravati has been submitted. The data includes around 2,02,167 farmers with outstanding loans across 12 major banks, who are eligible for loan waiver up to 2 lakh. Total loan waiver amount is estimated at around 2,338 crore.In addition, 93,139 farmers who have regularly repaid their loans have been identified for an incentive benefit of up to 50,000 each, amounting to approximately 524 crore. Govt officials stated this initiative is expected to bring significant relief to farmers in the district.Officials confirmed that the entire implementation process will be carried out online. Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory for eligible farmers. Banks have been instructed to upload data on the designated portal immediately to ensure faster transfer of funds directly into beneficiaries’ accounts.The scheme is expected to accelerate financial relief and improve credit discipline among farmers in the district.The highest number of eligible accounts has been reported from District Central Co-operative Bank with 71,655 accounts, amounting to Rs700 crore. This is followed by State Bank of India with 41,135 accounts (Rs513 crore), Bank of Maharashtra with 29,980 accounts (Rs488 crore), Central Bank of India with 29,010 accounts (Rs298 crore), Bank of Baroda with 3,102 accounts (Rs47 crore), Bank of India with 7,183 accounts (Rs80 crore), Union Bank of India with 6,170 accounts (Rs76 crore), Maharashtra Gramin Bank with 2,083 accounts (Rs29 crore), UCO Bank with 518 accounts (Rs5 crore), Punjab National Bank with 2,182 accounts (Rs8 crore), Canara Bank with 1,902 accounts (Rs9 crore) and Indian Bank with 7,247 accounts (Rs82 crore).Under the incentive scheme for timely loan repayment, 93,139 farmers will receive Rs50,000 each. The District Central Co-operative Bank accounts for highest share with 48,869 farmers eligible for Rs244 crore worth of incentives. Other beneficiaries include Central Bank of India (10,390 farmers with Rs51 crore), SBI (11,677 farmers with Rs58 crore), Bank of Maharashtra (9,482 farmers with Rs47 crore) and other nationalised and regional banks.
