Kanpur: Three persons were killed and more than 20 passengers injured after an SRTC bus from Mahoba depot collided with a diesel tanker and another vehicle on Kanpur–Sagar national highway (NH-34) near Kundaura village under Sumerpur police station on Wednesday evening.According to sources, those killed included the bus driver and the tanker driver. The impact of the collision was so intense that it completely mangled the front portions of both the bus and the tanker.The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals with the help of 108 ambulance services and private vehicles.On receiving information, Sumerpur SHO Pawan Kumar Patel, circle officer (Sadar) and other police personnel reached the spot. With the help of local residents, police rescued passengers trapped inside the bus and shifted them to hospital.The accident led to a long traffic jam on the highway, disrupting vehicular movement for several hours.SHO Pawan Kumar Patel said three people, including the bus driver and the tanker driver, died in the crash while the injured have been admitted to hospital. The exact cause of the accident was being investigated.SRTC Assistant Regional Manager RP Sahu, who also reached the spot, said the bus belonged to Mahoba depot. He said all passengers were rescued promptly and shifted to hospital for treatment.
