Kanpur: Minister for higher education and minister in-charge of Kanpur Nagar district Yogendra Upadhyaya, on the occasion of the completion of nine years of BJP government in UP, said on Wednesday that since 2017, around 252 development projects had been completed in the district at a cost of approximately Rs 1,503.89 crore,He said housing, sanitation, healthcare, education and social security schemes had witnessed extensive expansion. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a large number of houses had been constructed, while the Swachh Bharat Mission gave a new direction to sanitation through the construction of millions of toilets, he said.Referring to infrastructure development, the minister stated that the Kanpur Metro project, the Ring Road, thermal power projects and facilities developed under the Smart City initiative were establishing the district as a modern and well-organised city.Highlighting transformations within the education sector, he stated that since 2017, alongside the establishment of new universities and colleges in the state, there had also been an unprecedented improvement in quality. Through the integration of technology into higher education, including initiatives such as e-learning, smart classrooms, e-libraries and the distribution of tablets, students were being provided with a modern and competitive education.He said that as a result of the ‘Zero Tolerance Policy there had been a significant decline in crimes such as dacoity, robbery, murder and kidnapping. Expressway network, expansion of airports, defence industrial corridor and digital connectivity have transformed the state into a major hub for investment and industrial development, he said.He stated that there has been a significant increase in farmers’ income, and record payments have been ensured for sugarcane farmers. He said direct financial assistance has been provided to crores of farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.Mayor Pramila Pandey, MLA Mahesh Trivedi, Neelima Katiyar, Saroj Kureel, Anil Dixit, Shivram Singh, Upendra Paswan, DM Jitendra Pratap Singh and CDO Deeksha Jain were present .
