Mangaluru: Belthangady police have arrested a man, 21, and seized 76.5g of MDMA and 27g of ganja worth approximately Rs 7.6 lakh from his possession.Twalah alias Anwar alias Ansar, 21, a resident of Kuvettu in Belthangady taluk was found to be moving suspiciously at night near an autorickshaw at Pilichandikallu in Kuvettu village by SI Anand M and his team who were on night patrol, according to Dakshina Kannada SP Arun K.During a search, police recovered the mirajuana and a mobile phone. A subsequent inspection of the autorickshaw and a car nearby led to the recovery of 76.5gm MDMA, the SP said.The accused reportedly informed police during interrogation that another suspect, Amjath Kharar, who had arrived to supply the narcotics, fled the scene leaving the car behind.Belthangady police have registered a case under sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), 27A and 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Ansar was produced before a court, which remanded him in 14 days of judicial custody, the SP said.
