Nagpur: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday evening declared the results of JEE Main, with two from the city — Madhav Notani and Omisha Jain — scoring 99.99 percentile. Notani secured All India Rank (AIR) 91. However, the duo could not be reached despite multiple attempts.Two from Maharashtra — Madhav Viradiya and Siddarth Athaley scored a perfect 100 percentile — to emerge among 26 to achieve the feat nationally. Another candidate from state, Yash Raut, scored 99.988 percentile, highlighting the competitive edge of candidates from Maharashtra this year. The NTA also released the final AIRs and cut-off scores for eligibility to JEE (Advanced). About 2,50,182 candidates qualified for JEE (Advanced), the gateway to the prestigious IITs. Candidates who appeared in both January and April sessions had their best scores considered for the final merit list.JEE (Advanced) is considered one of the toughest entrance examinations across the world. The exam ultimately selects candidates for roughly 17,000 IIT seats, making the selection ratio extremely competitive. Overall, 16,04,854 unique candidates had registered for JEE (Main) 2026 across both sessions, of whom 15,38,468 appeared. In the April session alone, 11,10,904 candidates registered and 10,34,330 appeared, reflecting a high attendance rate of over 93%. Preliminary trends indicate that the cut-off for the General category has slightly increased, settling at around 93.11 percentile.The examination process was conducted under heightened security measures. The NTA deployed AI-based face recognition systems and 5G jammers across centres to curb malpractice. As a result, 113 results have been withheld due to suspected use of unfair means or biometric discrepancies.To ensure smooth conduct, the agency coordinated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to avoid clashes with board examinations and also facilitated rescheduling for candidates affected by disruptions in parts of the Middle East. Additionally, around 630 observers were deployed to maintain transparency, along with a answer key challenge mechanism.Results for BArch are still to be declared.
