Nagpur: M Ramesh, an IPS officer of the 2017 batch, has been appointed as Gadchiroli’s new superintendent of police (SP) replacing Neelotpal, who will now be Kolhapur SP. They are among the nine SP-rank IPS officers transferred by the state govt on Monday.Ramesh, with extensive experience in counterinsurgency operations in the Naxal-affected region, is expected to further strengthen security and anti-Maoist efforts in the district.DCP from Pune, Rajkumar Shinde, would be the new Washim SP while Jalgaon SP, Maheshwar Reddy, would be SP in state CID.A 2014-batch IPS officer Nikhil Pingale, who served as DCP(crime) in Pune, has taken charge as the new Satara SP. These changes highlight the Maharashtra govt’s emphasis on placing experienced officers in critical districts to improve law and order and public safety.
