Ahmedabad: A 15-year-old boy, Mohammed Shaikh, sustained serious injuries after a pickup truck allegedly hit him while he was crossing a road near Sarkhej Dhala crossroads on Wednesday morning. The driver, Rohit Chauhan, was arrested by M division traffic police.According to a complaint filed by Khalid Shaikh, the boy’s father, the accident occurred around 11.30am on a public road. The teenager was crossing the road when the Bolero pickup truck, allegedly being driven at high speed from Amber Tower side, hit him.The impact left the boy with serious injuries to the left side of his face, jaw and above his left eye. He also suffered injuries to his left arm, between the elbow and wrist, and his left knee.The injured teenager was initially taken to Sola Civil Hospital. After examining him, doctors referred him to Civil Hospital in Asarwa for further treatment.According to the complaint, the pickup did not stop after hitting the boy and went on to collide with another autorickshaw parked nearby. The autorickshaw was then pushed into a garbage-collection vehicle standing ahead, resulting in a pile-up. Both vehicles were damaged in the accident.People present at the spot reportedly caught the pickup truck driver and took him to a nearby traffic police station.
