Gandhinagar: The Gujarat govt is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of manufacturing MSME units registered on the state’s Udyog portal. The move is aimed at creating a comprehensive database for infrastructure planning and policy formulation.The project is being implemented by the state MSME commissionerate under the Union govt’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. Gujarat Info Petro Ltd (GIPL) has been appointed the nodal agency to carry out the mapping exercise.As part of the project, authorized representatives of GIPL will visit manufacturing MSME units to geo-tag their locations and collect and verify relevant information. The MSME commissionerate has urged units and industry associations across the state to extend cooperation to GIPL representatives and provide the information required for the exercise.The GIS-based mapping is expected to create an integrated and structured database of manufacturing MSMEs, which can be used for planning infrastructure, framing policies and implementing govt schemes more effectively.The mapped data will also be integrated with PM Gati Shakti portal, strengthening data-driven planning and decision-making. Officials said the exercise would enable the govt to access information on the location and other details of MSME units in a more systematic manner and help facilitate need-based infrastructure, support and other services.
