Jhansi: The Indian Army organised a mega Ex-Servicemen Rally (ESM) at Hati Ground near White Tiger War Memorial on Sunday, witnessing participation from over 1,200 ex-servicemen, their widows and ‘Veer Naris’ from Jhansi and Jalaun districts.Senior veteran officers, NCC cadets, schoolchildren and civil administration officials also took part in the daylong event, which aimed to connect with and support the ex-servicemen community.General Officer Commanding Major General Mandeep Singh was the chief guest. Officials said the rally focused on updating the database of veterans and addressing their grievances through coordination with agencies such as the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, records offices and Zila Sainik Boards.Dedicated helpdesks were set up by Project NAMAN, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Zila Sainik Board and the Directorate General of Resettlement to spread awareness about various welfare schemes and entitlements. Assistance was also provided for resolving day-to-day issues in coordination with the civil administration.On the occasion, three modified electric scooters and two electric wheelchairs were distributed to needy ex-servicemen, while financial assistance was extended to 10 ‘Veer Naris’.The event also marked the culmination of a motorbike rally flagged off on March 23, which travelled through remote areas of Jhansi and Jalaun to raise awareness and reach out to veterans in the region.
