Mysuru: Dasara Food Mela at Maharaja’s College Ground will feature 120 stalls serving regional and national cuisines from across India, along with international and continental fare.The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will conduct frequent inspections to monitor food quality and hygiene and ensure compliance with food safety norms.With the mela expected to draw large numbers of residents and tourists during Dasara festivities, organisers are planning measures to ensure smooth visitor movement, sanitation, food safety and security. The stall layout is being designed to prevent congestion and facilitate easy movement of families and other visitors.Speaking to TOI, Dasara Food Mela working president Srinivas Murthy said the event would showcase a range of culinary traditions, including Rajasthani, Andhra and Tamil cuisines, as well as continental dishes.“This year, we have also invited participants from foreign countries so that visitors can taste international cuisine. Dasara Food Mela will bring different varieties of food under one roof,” he said.The stalls will be divided into vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections and further categorised according to cuisine and type of preparation.Murthy said the deadline for applications ended Wednesday and the final process of stall allotment and other arrangements would be completed by Sept 19.On concerns over food prices, Murthy said vendors would be expected to keep rates in line with prevailing market prices and competition among stalls would help prevent unreasonable pricing.Police personnel, private security guards and sanitation workers will be deployed to manage crowds, regulate queues, clear waste and maintain cleanliness throughout the mela.
