MANGALURU: One person brain-dead and five others were injured after a wall at Sabha Bhavan collapsed during an office-bearers’ ceremony in Mangaluru on Saturday, police said.According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, the incident happened when a group of students gathered in the corridor and leaned against a weak supporting wall. The wall gave way amid the crowd, causing the students to fall.The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.A student who witnessed the incident said the condition of the building may have played a role in the collapse.Speaking to the media a student said, “There were many students crowding the balcony area. It’s the same building where the elections are happening, so it’s their responsibility to keep the building hard, like it’s a very old building they should have renovated it.”He further alleged that there was a delay in providing medical care to the injured at the hospital. “My friend also fell down. We only took them to the hospital… There was no doctor; only when we made the payment did the doctor come,” he said.Further details are awaited.
