Daltonganj: A YouTuber was booked in a criminal case at Chainpur police station on Wednesday for allegedly running a malicious video content against a Jal Sahiya of the district drinking water and sanitation department (DWSD), the police said on Thursday.Sriram Sharma, the officer-in-charge of Chainpur police station, confirmed the development. “A Jal Sahiya at the DWSD office lodged an FIR against YouTuber Ibrahim Raza on Feb 18. The criminal case was registered under various sections of the IT Act and BNS,” he said.
Raza had run an unfounded story linking her with a junior engineer of the DWSD who was roughed up by the husband of the complainant and a few of his neighbours near her house after he was found loitering in the vicinity around midnight. The complainant then came to the rescue of the engineer and described him as her immediate boss. None of the parties involved in the scuffle pressed any charges. However, Raza made a two-minute video of the incident which went viral and forced the Jal Sahiya to register an FIR. Raza is the second YouTuber in Palamu district to be booked for spreading malicious content. On Feb 1, Hussainabad-based YouTuber Sheikh Mojahid was booked for allegedly making unfounded allegations against the returning officer of Hussainabad Nagar Panchayat.
