Patna: A youth and a child suffered severe burns after coming in contact with a high-voltage overhead electricity wire while attempting to make reels near Pauakhali railway station in Kishanganj district on Monday. The injured have been identified as Ranjit Kumar (22), son of Vimal Kumar, and Ali Saba (8), son of Shahamuddin. Both are residents of Tarabari village in Dighalbank block of the district.According to police, the incident occurred when Ranjit climbed atop a stationary coach parked outside the station to film reels for social media. The child, Ali, also climbed on the coach. They accidentally came in contact with the high-tension overhead wire, suffering severe burn injuries.The accident triggered panic at the railway station. Local residents and railway staff rushed to their aid and shifted both injured to the primary health centre in Pauakhali for first aid. They were later referred to Sadar Hospital, Kishanganj, for advanced treatment.Ankit Singh, SHO of Pauakhali police station, said the incident occurred on Monday, but police received information later the same day. He added that a team visited the hospital, where doctors said Ranjit’s condition was stable, though he remained under observation due to the severity of the burns. The child was also stated to be stable.No FIR has been filed either by police or railways in this regard.He further said the two had reached a deserted area near the railway station and climbed onto the stationary coach. As only a couple of trains pass through the station daily, local youths often gather there to make reels.Following the incident, railway authorities and local police have appealed to people to avoid risking their lives for social media content.
