Biharsharif: Police arrested a youth accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in Sheikhpura district, officials said on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Sintu Kumar, was taken into custody on Monday night during a raid conducted by the police. Acting on the complaint lodged by the woman, the police moved swiftly and apprehended the accused from the village.According to the police, the incident took place late on Sunday night when the woman was sleeping in her house along with her two minor children. Her husband, who works in Delhi, was not present at the time. Officials said the accused, who belongs to the same village, allegedly entered the house through the roof and committed the crime.Following the incident, the woman approached the local women’s police station and lodged a formal complaint against the accused. Based on her statement, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of law. Police said Sintu was subsequently arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. He was sent to Sheikhpura jail.Police officials said preliminary inputs suggest that the accused and the woman were known to each other, and this aspect is also being examined during the course of the investigation.
