Varanasi: A complaint of acid attack was dismissed by police as a case of acid burns caused by spurious Holi colours thrown on a procession passing through Badi Bazar area of Walidpur under Mohammadabad Gohana police station in Mau district on Wednesday.Manish Kanskar (25) of Mohalla Kazi Tola, suffered major skin burns and alleged he was attacked with acid. Mohammadabad Gohana police station in charge KK Verma said on Thursday that initial police investigation revealed it was not an acid attack, but skin problem caused by chemical-laced colour. Manish, along with his friends and other local residents, took out a Holi procession on Wednesday. Around noon, when they reached Badi Bazaar, some colour fell on Manish and his companion. Manish fell to the ground screaming. People participating in the procession rushed him to Muhammadabad Gohna community health centre, from where he was referred to trauma centre for treatment.Police said Manish filed complaint against three residents of Badi Bazaar.
