Ranchi: Hundreds of children brought colour and devotion to Ranchi’s Shravan celebrations on Sunday as they joined the Bal Kanwar Yatra from Nakshatra Van to Pahari Mandir, chanting “Bol Bam” and carrying decorated kanwars before offering holy water to Lord Shiva.Dressed in saffron, the young devotees walked through Ratu Road Chowk, turning the route into a festive corridor of chants, music and celebration. For many families, the yatra was a way to introduce children to the rituals and spirit of Shravan, the auspicious month dedicated to Lord Shiva.Children dressed as Bal Shiva and Bal Parvati drew special attention, while dhol and tasha beats kept the procession lively. Devotees and organisers danced alongside the young kanwariyas, and residents lined the route to greet and encourage them.Ranchi MLA CP Singh performed aarti at Nakshatra Van. At Pahari Mandir, the children offered holy water to Lord Mahakal.Shri Shiv Barat Aayojan Mahasamiti spokesperson Badal Singh said the response from children and parents was especially strong this year.“The enthusiasm among children and parents was tremendous this year. Their ‘Bol Bam’ chants brought a devotional energy to the city, and through the yatra we want to help the younger generation connect with our religious traditions and values,” Singh said.
