Prayagraj: The water level of Yamuna and Ganga at Naini and Chhatnag on Monday continued to rise on third consecutive day following the release of flood water from the rivers in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. The officials of flood control department said that they are maintaining a close watch water level and necessary actions would be initiated when needed.In the past 24 hours, water level of Yamuna at Naini and Ganga at Chhatnag rose 1.63 m and 1.6m respectively.The water level of Ganga at Phaphamau and Chhatnag recorded 79.68m (163 cm rise) and 79.62m (33 cm rise) respectively while the water level of Yamuna at Naini stood 80.16 m by 8 am.At 12 noon, the water level of Yamuna at Naini was 80.33 m (17 cm rise) while the level of Ganga at Phaphamau and Chhatnag stood 79.66 and 80 m respectively. Officials claimed that due to discharge of flood and rain water in Ken, and Betwa rivers, the water level of Yamuna has incrased in past 24 hours. However, both the rivers are still flowing four meters below the danger mark as danger mark stands at 84.734 m.At 4 pm, the water level of Yamuna at Naini was recorded 80.41 m ( 8 cm rise) while the water level of Ganga at Phaphamau and Chhatnag stood 79.74 m and 80.06 m respectively.
