Prayagraj: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday said the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is not just a matter of providing 33% reservation but reflects a resolve to accord women a leading role in leadership, decision-making and nation-building.He claimed that PM Narendra Modi has accomplished the historic task of securing the rightful entitlements of half the country’s population.“This Act will not only give tangible form to the core mantra of ‘Empowered Women, Empowered India’ but will also endow women with renewed energy and fresh opportunities. The BJP remains steadfastly committed to working towards the objectives of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign,” he said.Maurya said under PM’s leadership, women’s empowerment has gone beyond slogans to implementation on the ground.“Over the last 12 years, the significant disparity in the country’s sex ratio has steadily narrowed and is now approaching a state of near-parity,” he said.“Providing reservation to the ‘nari shakti’ is a decision taken in the national interest. Let the opposition parties beware of the wrath of this ‘nari shakti’! The Congress party had ruled for 60 years yet failed to accomplish even a fraction of what has been achieved now. Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav remain blinded by their own arrogance,” he added.He said let the members of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress listen loud and clear that the BJP stands as the true guardian of the Constitution.“The opposition must not make the error of underestimating the nation’s ‘Matra Shakti’ (mother power). If the Samajwadi Party and the Congress continue to oppose women’s empowerment, they will meet a fate of utter destruction—just as Lanka was reduced to ashes. If Akhilesh Yadav fails to extend his support to this Act, he will find himself relegated to Saifai rather than taking his rightful place in Parliament,” he said.The Deputy CM said the political future of parties opposing women’s reservation is bleak. The public has now realised the true nature of those who oppose women’s reservation and engage in the politics of appeasement.“Foremost among them is the Samajwadi strongman Akhilesh Yadav. His demand in the Lok Sabha to include Muslim women within the women’s reservation framework is merely a ploy—a cheap tactic of vote-bank politics,” Maurya said.The PDA (Pichde, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) championed by Akhilesh is a sham. Akhilesh seeks to keep Muslims confined as a mere vote bank and he has consistently engaged in the politics of appeasement, he said.Regarding the Noida incident, Maurya said govt has constituted an inquiry committee. While the interests of the workers are being duly considered, no one will be permitted to compromise law and order.
