Gorakhpur: A 25-year-old woman was found dead inside a closed shop in Golghar area on Wednesday morning. Police suspect foul play as there were injury marks on the head.The deceased, Gangotri Yadav, ran a printing press near the district panchayat office. Her highly decomposed body was discovered inside a cabin after locals alerted police about a foul smell from the shop, which had remained shut for nearly three days.Cantt police broke open the shutter and recovered the body. “The shop was closed, and the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition,” an officer said.Gangotri’s brother, Ramesh Yadav, said she was the youngest among three siblings and the family had been preparing for her marriage. “I last met her on Sunday. When she didn’t answer calls on Monday, we got worried,” he said.Family members reached the spot on Wednesday after noticing a strong stench, prompting police intervention.Police are probing the role of Anil Gupta, who had been working with her for eight years and is currently untraceable. Some individuals have been detained for questioning.SP City Nimesh Patil said head injury marks were found and all angles are being investigated. The body has been sent for post mortem.
