Varanasi: Two police inspectors, including Ubhao police station officer in Ballia district police, were suspended after audio clip of a telephonic conversation went viral on social media, in which, one of them was allegedly heard seeking sexual favours from a rape survivor in exchange for filing a chargesheet against the accused. The rape accused, who was arrested and sent to jail on Feb 24, is a forest department sub-inspector.Ballia SP Omvir Singh on Wednesday said that, taking note of a video along with an audio clip being circulated on social media, CO Rasra Alok Kumar Gupta was assigned to probe the matter. The audio clip contained conversation between inspector Naresh Mohan, who was posted as inspector crime at Ubhao police station before Apr 1, and the complainant regarding chargesheet of the case, said the SP.Based on investigation report of CO Rasra, Malik and Ubhao SHO Sanjay Shukla were suspended for being prima facie guilty in the matter, said the SP, adding that departmental inquiry had been initiated against them, while CO Rasra had been directed to speak with the complainant and ensure necessary legal action in the case.The rape survivor, who hails from a village under the limits of Ubhao police station, lodged FIR with Ubhao police on Feb 21 against a forest SI, alleging that the latter had married her in a temple and established physical relations with her, assuring to marry her in court as well. But, when she started compelling him to go for court marriage, he removed all evidence of their wedding and refused to let her stay with him, she alleged.After the case was lodged, investigation was assigned to in charge of police outpost concerned, said CO Rasra, mentioning that chargesheet in the case had already been filed after arrest of the rape accused in Mar.Following these developments, Malik, who had no connection with the case and was also transferred from Ubhao police station in Apr first week, started calling the rape survivor to meet him alone in order to get the chargesheet filed in her case, said CO Rasra. He added that evidence like audio clip was only in the case of Malik. She has also levelled similar allegation on the SHO although she could not present any evidence against him, added CO Rasra.
