Chennai: A woman and a youth were killed in two different accidents that happened in Chengalpet and Kundrathur on Wednesday evening.In the first incident, Radha, 34, wife of Ramesh, 36, from Kavanur near Padappai, stopped her scooter at a traffic signal while on her way to pick up her children from school. A container lorry from Chengalpet heading towards Tambaram lost control and rammed into the stationary goods vehicle that was behind her.
In the impact, the goods vehicle crashed into Radha’s scooter and she was thrown off. She suffered severe head injuries, and died on the spot. The goods vehicle driver also sustained serious injuries. Police seized the lorry and are looking for its driver who is absconding. In another accident, Ajay, 22, from Erumaiyur Palanthandalam, died in a head-on collision with a bike. Police said Ajay who was riding towards Tambaram on his motorcycle collided with another bike travelling from Tambaram to Somangalam. Ajay and the two riders on the other motorcycle—Vishnu, 23, and Sanjay, 23—were rushed to Chromepet GH. Ajay succumbed to his injuries. Vishnu and Sanjay continue to receive treatment.
