Patna: A 48-year-old woman was found dead with gunshot injuries at her house in Pahulwarisharif area of Patna in the early hours of Tuesday. City superintendent of police (west) Bhanu Pratap Singh, who rushed to the spot with Phulwarisharif subdivisional police officer-II Deepak Kumar and a police team, said Shobha Devi was shot by her brother-in-law while she was sleeping in her house in Muradpur village. “Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was due to a personal dispute over money. The police have initiated an investigation. The FSL team was also called to the crime scene, from where a bullet was recovered,” Singh said.Deceased Shobha’s daughter Neha Kumari and son-in-law Raju Paswan first spotted the body lying in a pool of blood in her room. According to the victim’s daughter, she heard the sound of a bullet around midnight but thought it was a firecracker. In the morning, when her mother did not come out of her room, the family, with the help of the villagers, broke open the door and found Shobha’s body lying on floor.The body was sent to AIIMS-Patna for a postmortem.The victim’s husband, Shambhu, who worked in Jharkhand, died years ago, after which Shobha had been receiving pension.
