GURGAON: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and stabbed multiple times in Faridabad’s Dheeraj Nagar on June 30 after refusing to get on the motorcycle of a man who had been pursuing her for months. An FIR was registered on July 1 after she was declared fit enough to submit a police complaint and record her statement.Ankita, originally from Mawai Musalmanan village in UP’s Hardoi, said she met Bhaiyya Lal, a resident of Lumamau village in the same district, around a year ago when he visited her in-laws’ house to book a vehicle driven by her husband.She alleged that over the past seven to eight months, Lal repeatedly professed his love for her even though she told him she was married and had children and was not interested. He also turned up many times in Faridabad, where she was living on rent while working at a private company.Ankita stated that around 9am on June 30, when she was waiting for an auto near Etmadpur bridge to go to work, Lal arrived on a motorcycle. He blocked her way and hit her with the vehicle, causing her to nearly fall. He insisted that she sit on the motorcycle and, when she refused, slapped and punched her, kicked her in the stomach and then attacked her with a knife.As people gathered on hearing her screams, Lal told her he would kill her and fled the spot. Neighbours rushed her to BK Civil Hospital.Police got information about the stabbing from an emergency response vehicle, following which cops went to the scene of the crime and the hospital.Ankita’s medico-legal report recorded multiple incised wounds on the left arm reaching muscle, complaints of abdominal pain due to blunt force, and several injuries on the back caused by a sharp weapon. She was shifted to Bharat Hospital for specialised treatment.A case was registered against Lal at Palla police station under BNS sections related to wrongful restraint, causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, and criminal intimidation, among others.Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.
