Vadodara: A 35-year-old woman allegedly jumped from the 11th floor of an apartment building in the Laxmipura area on Saturday morning, resulting in her death. Police said prolonged illness and health complications may have driven her to take the extreme step. The deceased, Sangita Thapa, lived on the 11th floor of Swami Vivekanand Heights apartments. She had been undergoing treatment for stomach ulcers and other related health issues for the past nine months, during which her condition did not show significant improvement. According to police, Sangita earlier worked at a mall in Gorwa and lived with her husband, Pritesh Thapa, and his mother. Due to her illness, she was forced to quit her job and remained largely confined to the house. She reportedly lost considerable weight and did not fully recover during this period. A family member told mediapersons that Sangita was admitted to a hospital on Feb 23 and was discharged on March 5. On Saturday morning, Pritesh asked her to sit in the balcony to get some sunlight, as she usually stayed indoors. After going to the balcony, Sangita asked her husband to return inside and attend to his morning chores. Pritesh then asked his mother to sit with Sangita. When she reached the balcony, Sangita was not there. It later emerged that she had jumped from the balcony. Police said the couple did not have children. Preliminary inquiries suggest that her prolonged illness may have been a contributing factor. Further inquiry is underway.
