Kanpur: A 20-year-old woman, who was critically injured in a road accident on Aug 4, died during treatment at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital on Thursday, police said.The deceased was identified as Kashish. According to her family, she was returning from a birthday party along with two other friends when the Fortuner she was travelling in collided with a brick-laden tractor allegedly coming from the wrong side.The accident occurred around 2 am near the Axis Honda showroom in Saket Nagar. Following the collision, the tractor driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot.Police said Kashish and her friend sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the Fortuner driver escaped with minor injuries. The injured were initially taken to PPM Hospital and later referred to LLR Hospital for advanced treatment.Station house officer Vijay Singh said the tractor was seized after the accident and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver. He added that further legal action will be taken based on a complaint from the victim’s family.
