Times News NetworkKanpur: A 59-year-old woman died after a speeding dumper hit her while she was crossing the road in Madhavbag market under the Bidhnu police station area of Kanpur on Thursday night, police said.The woman, identified as Janki Devi (59), a resident of Rajapurwa village in Ramaipur, was seriously injured in the accident. Police took her to Bidhnu CHC, where doctors declared her dead.Janki Devi had come to Madhavbag market on Thursday night to buy vegetables. After the incident, angry villagers chased the dumper, stopped it, and caught the driver before handing him over to the police.Bidhnu station in charge Tej Bahadur Singh said the body was sent for postmortem. He said the dumper was in police custody and the driver was being questioned. “A case will be registered and further action will be taken after receiving the complaint.”
