Patna: A woman was arrested in Sheohar district early on Saturday for allegedly killing a tw-year-old boy to take revenge on his mother over a land dispute. The child, who went missing on March 13, was later found dead in a sack near his home, police said.The deceased was identified as Sujit Kumar, a resident of Tajpur village under the town police station area. Arun works as a construction labourer in Nagaland, while his wife, Chinta Devi, lives in the village with their two children, including Sujit.Police arrested the boy’s distant aunt, Parvati Devi, in connection with the crime. According to investigators, the murder was linked to a long-standing land dispute between Chinta Devi and the accused.Sujit had been missing since around 10am on March 13. His family members and villagers searched for him but could not trace him. The town police station was later informed, following which an investigation was launched.During the probe, police received information that clues related to the missing child could be found at the house of Arun’s cousin. Acting on the tip-off, the police searched the house and recovered Sujit’s body stuffed in a sack near a ledge.Sheohar SP Shubhank Mishra said information was received from Tajpur village at around 11am that a two-year-old child had been missing since morning.He said, “A police team led by the Town SHO conducted a search operation in the concerned house. During the search, a sack was recovered from there, in which the body of the approximately 2-year-old child was found. During preliminary interrogation, the accused woman admitted that she killed the child to take revenge over the mutual dispute. Some scratch marks were also found on the neck, and the body turned blue. However, the exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report comes.”
