Kanpur: A wedding ceremony at a guest house in Kanpur’s Shyamnagar area was thrown into chaos on Friday night after a 27-year-old woman stormed the venue, alleging that the 32-year-old groom was marrying for a second time without divorcing her. The dramatic confrontation disrupted the wedding proceedings, drew a large crowd and prompted police intervention.A video purportedly showing the incident has gone viral on social media.According to information, the wedding was underway with much fanfare at a guest house under Chakeri police station limits when the woman, a resident of Chamanganj, learnt that her husband, a resident of Juhi Lal Colony, was solemnising a second marriage.

She immediately reached the venue and created a commotion in the middle of the wedding rituals, alleging that her husband had not divorced her before attempting to marry another woman. The sudden turn of events left guests and members of both families stunned, while a large crowd gathered at the spot.On receiving information, police rushed to the guest house and brought the situation under control. Officers pacified both sides and took them to the police station, where discussions were initiated. Police said efforts are currently underway to resolve the dispute through a panchayat involving both parties while legal action is being taken as required.
