KANPUR: A 46-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her son-in-law in Banda district after she reportedly opposed her daughter’s love marriage.The accused allegedly attacked the woman with a sharp-edged weapon at her home in Korrahi village under the Bisanda police station limits. Police have arrested all three named accused and sent the body for postmortem examination.The deceased was identified as Bano, wife of the late Raju and a resident of Korrahi village. According to police, her daughter, Aliya, was in a relationship with Lavkush Verma, a resident of the same village. Bano had opposed their relationship and repeatedly tried to dissuade her daughter from marrying him. However, Aliya went ahead with the marriage.Police said Bano continued to oppose the relationship even after the marriage. Enraged by this, Lavkush allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon on Saturday night, inflicting multiple blows. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.After receiving information about the incident, police, senior officers, and a forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence from the crime scene.Sadar Circle Officer Saurabh Singh said that during the preliminary investigation, it emerged that the victim had opposed her daughter’s love marriage to a youth from the same village. Nursing a grudge, the accused allegedly killed her with a sharp-edged weapon, he said.
