Kanpur: Two nine-year-old girls died after drowning in Gadra nullah in Hastam village in Bisanda police station area of Banda, on Monday morning, police said.The victims were identified as Radhika, 9, daughter of Shravan Kumar, and Anshika, 9, daughter of Shivshankar, a resident of Divli village in Naraini.Anshika came to her aunt’s house for a visit. The two girls went to play at the nullah, about 200 metres from the house. While playing, they went into the nullah to bathe. They entered deep water and drowned.Children playing with them informed the family members. After a search for about half an hour, both the girls were fished out. They were taken to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead.On being informed police arrived at the site. Police station in charge CP Tiwari said that both girls died due to drowning. “Their bodies are being sent for postmortem.”
