Times News NetworkKanpur: A pregnant woman gave birth to a baby boy at Kanpur Central railway station on Friday afternoon after she went into labour on board the train, aided by the alertness of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the promptness of the medical team under Operation Matrishakti. Both the woman and the child are reported safe.The woman, Chanda Khatoon, a resident of Saharsa in Bihar, travelled from Anand Vihar Terminal to Katihar on train number 12488 Seemanchal Express and went into labour on reaching Kanpur Central.Head constable Ranjit Singh, posted on duty near the tunnel on platform number 6, immediately informed the control room. Assistant sub-inspector Sunita then reached the spot and called Kaushiki, a nurse from a private clinic, and Dr Vivek. The delivery was conducted there with a screen made from clothes.Under the supervision of the medical team, the woman gave birth to a son. After the delivery, the newborn was first taken to a private clinic and then the mother was also taken there. On examination, both the mother and the newborn were found healthy, and both were referred to Ursula Hospital for better treatment.
