Mangaluru: An unidentified person allegedly attacked a woman with a sharp weapon near the KSRTC New bus stand at BC Road in Bantwal on Thursday evening, leaving her seriously injured. The accused fled the scene after the attack. The woman subsequently died without responding to treatment. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been identified as a distant relative of the woman, and was allegedly spurned by the victim.According to police, the incident occurred around 6 pm, when the woman, believed to be between 21 and 25 years old, was waiting for a bus near the KSRTC New bus stand at BC Road. The injured woman was immediately shifted to the Bantwal Govt Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.Personnel from the Bantwal Town police station visited the spot and have launched an investigation.
